A tragic accident claimed the life of an 80-year-old Forsyth woman Thursday afternoon in Howell County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 3:23 pm yesterday, July 24th, along Highway 142, about four miles east of Bakersfield. Authorities say a 2003 Toyota Prius was traveling westbound when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree. The driver, identified as an 80-year-old woman from Forsyth, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Howell County Coroner at 4:11 pm. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Next of kin have been notified. This marks the 19th fatality in Troop G’s coverage area for the year 2025, matching the total number of fatal crashes recorded by the same time last year
