Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call that led to the arrest of 19-year-old Gavin Daniel Ogle, after his ex-girlfriend had notified his mother that she had seen a bomb taped underneath Ogle’s dresser. Deputies from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department, Arkansas State Police, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives all assisted in the case. Upon arrival, they learned that Ogle’s mother had removed the bomb and placed it on the kitchen table. Then, an Arkansas State Police special agent advised everyone to evacuate the residence as he attempted to diffuse the makeshift bomb. After successfully diffusing the bomb investigators said that the foot long by an inch and a quarter round metal tube contained wood screws, nails, .22 shells, other rifle shells, shotgun shells, firecrackers, and gunpowder. Authorities then went after Ogle and were informed that he had a warrant out for his arrest in Marion County for non-payment of fines. Ogle was arrested the next day by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, and during interrogation, Ogle claimed that he made the bomb as a form of self-defense and did not have any intent on using it. Ogle was charged with Felony criminal acts involving explosives or destructive devices. He is being held for Marion County on $15,000 bond.
