A Mountain Home man was severely injured Thursday night after a fire broke out while he was refueling a lawn mower at his residence west of town. Authorities say the blaze destroyed the shop building on the property and left the man with significant burns to his limbs. According to the Mountain Home Fire Department, the incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. on Baxter County 733, just off West Road. The man, whose name has not been released at this time, had been using a lawn mower earlier that evening and was attempting to refuel it inside a shop building on the property. Fire officials report that the lawn mower was still hot from recent use when the man began adding fuel. During the process, gasoline reportedly made contact with a hot surface of the mower, igniting a sudden fire. Flames quickly spread, and the man suffered burns to both his arms and legs as he attempted to escape. The man was airlifted from the scene, and his condition has not been made public at this time.
