A Pomona man is facing serious charges following an alleged domestic assault involving a child. Authorities say 29-year-old Zachary Truett has been charged with Felony abuse or neglect of a child and Felony first-degree endangering the welfare of a child after an incident reported on July 26th. The Howell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Private Road 1511 in Pomona on July 29th to assist the Missouri Children’s Division with a report of child abuse. Investigators say the incident began as a domestic dispute between Truett and his girlfriend. When her 12-year-old son attempted to intervene, Truett allegedly placed his hands around the boy’s neck and choked him. Truett denied any physical altercation, claiming the argument was only verbal. However, three of the four children in the home reportedly confirmed the choking incident to investigators. One child also told authorities Truett had pushed her to the ground and that she witnessed him choking the boy. The report also stated there is probable cause to believe Truett knowingly caused physical injury to a child under 18 and put the child’s health and safety at significant risk.
