The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly fire on Marion County Road 145 in the Oakland area. Marion County Investigators conducted a crime scene search, and over the next several days were assisted by members of the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Bomb and Arson Unit (BAU) as well as members of the FBI Evidence Response Team (ERT) to assist in determining the cause and origin of the fire and to recover evidence related to the fire. During the crime scene search, evidence believed to be human remains was recovered from the scene and submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for analysis and identification. Investigators are not releasing any names associated with the residence until they receive additional information from the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.
The investigation is ongoing, and foul play is not expected at this time.
