Domestic violence case puts West Plains man in jail

A West Plains man is facing felony charges following a domestic violence incident. According to the West Plains Police Department, officers were called to a residence on August 17 after reports of a disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The suspect, identified as Grayson Smith, is accused of attempting to force baggies of suspected narcotics down the victim’s throat during a verbal altercation that escalated into violence. Police say when the victim tried to leave, Smith allegedly grabbed her by the neck with both hands, strangling her to the point she could not breathe. The victim also reported being struck on the left side of her head with a closed fist. Officers documented multiple injuries, including a laceration on her chin, red marks around her neck, a red mark on her right elbow, a bruise on her left calf, and a red mark on her right knee. Smith was taken to the West Plains Jail. His bond has been set at $10,000.
