The Chiefs announce their 53 man roster on Tuesday

Tuesday was cut-down day in the NFL; teams were required to cut their rosters down to 53 players. Kansas City announced its cuts last night.

Kansas City placed rookie tight end Jake Briningstool, linebacker Brandon George, and cornerback Nazeeh Johnson on injured reserve. Tackle Ethan Driskell was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list.

The Chiefs waived these players:

  • Chu Godrick, T
  • C.J. Hanson, G
  • Azizi Hearn, CB
  • Jimmy Holiday, WR
  • Coziah Izzard, DT
  • Cam Jones, LB
  • Kevin Knowles, CB
  • Joey Lombard, C
  • Fabien Lovett, DT
  • Nate Matlack, DE
  • Glendon Miller, S
  • Xander Mueller, LB
  • Chris Oladokun, QB
  • Esa Pole, T
  • Hal Presley, WR
  • Key’Shawn Smith, WR
  • Melvin Smith, CB
  • Geor’Quarius Spivey, TE
  • Carson Steele, RB
  • Tre Watson, TE
  • Michael Wiley, RB
  • Major Williams, S
  • Bailey Zappe, QB

They also released five players who are veterans and are not subject to waivers. That list included veteran safety Mike Edwards, nose tackle Mike Pennel and tight end Robert Tonyan.
