On Monday, at approximately 2:34 a.m., Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on State Route K in West Plains after observing a vehicle driving erratically and crossing the highway’s center line. The driver failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens, prompting a pursuit.

The driver, later identified as 28-year-old Taylor Davis, continued to flee through multiple intersections and traffic signals, reaching speeds in excess of 75 mph. The pursuit went from West Plains to Pottersville to Caulfield and back toward West Plains.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., Sheriff Matt Roberts was able to get in position in front of the pursuit and deploy stop sticks in an attempt to deflate the tires of the suspect vehicle. Shortly after this, the suspect vehicle struck the stop sticks and the tires immediately began to deflate, causing the car to slow.

The vehicle driven by Davis eventually came to a stop in the ditch on U.S Highway 160. As the vehicle rolled to a stop, Davis exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Deputies apprehended him after a short foot pursuit and a brief struggle.

Davis is currently being held at the Howell County Jail. He is held on charges of felony Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention and felony first degree Property Damage. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
