
West Plains, MO — September 2, 2025 – The West Plains Area Dugout Club is proud to announce a significant memorial gift from the family of Maurice “Moe” Sandfort, a lifelong supporter of baseball and Grizzly Athletics. Moe’s wife, Patricia Sandfort, made the generous donation prior to her recent passing.
The gift will officially dedicate the Grizzly Home Dugout in honor of Maurice “Moe” Sandfort , preserving his legacy for generations of Grizzly players and fans. Moe Sandfort, a passionate baseball fan and local community banker, was a staunch supporter of Grizzly Athletics, serving on the Grizzly Club Board of Directors and being instrumental in bringing athletics to the local campus in the mid-1990’s. Known for his own skills on the diamond, Sandfort played in men’s full baseball leagues in the St. Louis area and was once featured in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for accomplishing the rare feat of playing all nine positions in a single game. His love for the game has been carried on through his family.
