On Tuesday, at approximately 7:18 p.m., Shannon County deputies were patrolling near 5th Street and Day Avenue in Summersville when a green Dodge Durango blew through a stop sign and nearly slammed into a patrol vehicle. Deputies immediately initiated a traffic stop and found an open bottle of whiskey resting between Christy Cobble’s legs, and a passenger identified as Howard Crane. Cobble was driving on a revoked license. Deputies also located a glass pipe (“bubble”) coated with burnt crystallized residue, along with a baggie of white crystalline shards weighing approximately 1.6 grams. Both items were tested and confirmed to be methamphetamine.
Cobble and Crane have been formally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and are each being held on $5,000 cash-only bonds. Additional charges—including DWI (Drugs/Alcohol), multiple traffic violations, and further drug offenses—are expected.
