The Izard County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of individuals receiving calls from someone claiming to be a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office. During these calls, the scammer tells people they have a warrant and may attempt to pressure them into providing personal information or payment. Please be advised that the name being used is not associated with our Office, and these calls are fraudulent. The Izard County Sheriff’s Office will never demand any type of payment by phone. The Sheriff’s have also received additional reports of individuals receiving scam text messages. They previously shared a warning about this type of scam, but it is still circulating. The messages claim that the recipient has missed a court date or has an unpaid ticket. They instruct the individual to click on a link and make a payment. Do not click on the link and do not provide any personal or financial information. These messages are a scam.
