A Mountain Home man is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting a motel employee three times during a dispute over loud music. Sixty-five-year-old Gary Neal Frans is charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder and aggravated assault. The incident happened on March 16 at the Mountain Home Inn. Police say Frans, who was heavily intoxicated with a reported blood alcohol level of .27, became upset with a cleaning crew playing music in a nearby room. When the front desk employee came to check on the crew, Frans allegedly pulled a gun and fired three shots, striking the victim. The victim was taken to Baxter Health, then later transferred to CoxHealth Medical Center South in Springfield. Frans was arrested in his room, where officers found him sitting with a firearm at his feet. Frans appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday. His attorney requested a reduction of his $500,000 bond, which the judge did not grant, but a bond hearing has been scheduled for October 6. Frans has pleaded not guilty.
