Tuesday morning, around 4:30, the Howell County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a pickup traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 60. The truck was traveling approximately 10 miles per hour under the posted speed limit before drifting across the fog line and partially onto the shoulder of the roadway. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was identified as Eric Weekley, who stated he was returning to El Dorado Springs, Missouri, from Nashville, Tennessee.
During the stop, Weekley advised that he had crossed the fog line while attempting to retrieve his dropped phone. Upon exiting the vehicle, a glass smoking device commonly used to ingest methamphetamine fell from Weekley’s lap, and he was immediately detained.
A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic bag containing approximately 3.36 grams of a white crystalline substance concealed behind the driver’s side dash. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Eric Weekley was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Eric Weekley has now been formally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class D Felony, and his bond was set at $5000.00.
