A Thayer man is facing charges following his arrest Thursday afternoon in Oregon County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 56-year-old Joey L. Vanwinkle was taken into custody at 4:40 p.m. on a felony third-degree assault charge and an armed criminal action warrant out of Oregon County. Vanwinkle was booked into the Oregon County Jail, where he is being held on bondable status. Authorities note that the charges are accusations and all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
