In April 2025, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office received a tip indicating that child sexual exploitation material was being distributed from a device located within Stone County.
Following several months of detailed investigative work, Authorities were able to identify the device and corresponding IP address connected to the suspected activity, tracing it to a residence. Based on these findings, they obtained a search warrant for the residence located on Herpel Road.
On Monday, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant at the residence. During the warrant, Kris Aaron Copeland, age 47, of Mountain View, was taken into custody. Copeland has been charged with two counts of distributing, possessing, and Viewing Matter Depicting Sexually Explicit Conduct Involving a Child.
His bond has been set at $25,000.
