A home invasion in West Plains earlier this month has left one man dead and another facing felony charges. According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, officers responded to a fatal shooting on November 8, 2025, at a residence located at 2609 Paula Drive in Howell County. Investigators say two men entered the home with the intent to steal. During the break-in, the homeowner confronted the intruders and shot one of the suspects, identified as 23-year-old Hayden Levi Hilleman, who died at the scene. The second suspect, Keith Geringer of West Plains, was later taken into custody. In a post-Miranda interview, Geringer admitted that he and Hilleman entered the residence through the basement before moving upstairs, where the shooting occurred. He also told investigators that he had previously been inside the home and that Hilleman had been stealing from the residence for several weeks. Geringer is charged with 1st Degree Burglary and 2nd Degree Murder – Death During Perpetration of a Felony. His bond has been set at $100,000.
