A Mountain View man is facing a long list of felony charges after Howell County deputies located methamphetamine and dozens of firearms during and after a traffic stop last week. According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, on November 19, Deputy Chancey Hambelton conducted a traffic stop on US 60 after observing a vehicle speeding and crossing the center line. The driver, Gregory Allen Porter of Mountain View, was the sole occupant of the truck. Porter consented to a search of the vehicle, where deputies located a plastic bag containing approximately 5.5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine. A TruNarc test confirmed the substance as meth. Deputies also found a loaded firearm inside the truck’s center console. Porter is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms. A further search at Porter’s residence uncovered approximately 36 additional firearms along with suspected narcotics. Investigators report that the items were found in an upstairs room identified by Porter’s wife, along with mail and documents linking Porter to the location. Porter is now facing the felony charges of Trafficking Drugs or Attempt, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm – Dangerous Felon, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  All evidence has been seized and submitted to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office.
