Chiefs need to turn things around as season nears

cheifs-1

The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves sitting at 6–6 through 12 games the first time they’ve been at .500 this late in the season since 2017, when they barely punched a wild-card ticket. The road back to the postseason is still possible, but the Chiefs will need wins and some help to get there. Thursday’s 31–28 loss in Dallas painted the picture of an up-and-down season. Kansas City’s offense looked dangerous at times, but costly penalties stalled drives. On the defensive side, a unit that had been playing strong in recent weeks was picked apart by the Cowboys once again with penalties playing a major role in the setback. The Chiefs are coming off a momentum-building win over the AFC-South leading Colts, and earlier this year they knocked off playoff-contending Detroit. But losses to fellow postseason hopefuls  including AFC West rivals Denver and the Chargers have added pressure to the final stretch. Kansas City still has rematches with both division foes ahead, along with games against Houston and Tennessee. The Chiefs return to primetime a week from Sunday when they host the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium. Fans can hear live coverage on K-Kountry 95.
