On Friday, Ava police were called to a motel for a reported sexual assault. Michael Lee Williams was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold. A victim allegedly told police that Williams had sexually assaulted her. She was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, and a forensic exam was conducted. Based on evidence, the Police requested that Williams be charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy
