A former West Plains resident has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after being found guilty of first-degree statutory sodomy. Court records show Brian R. Biggers, 49, of Springfield, was sentenced on Dec. 10 following a bench trial in Christian County. The sentence was handed down by 38th Circuit Judge Jessica Kruse. According to court documents, Biggers must serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole. The charge stems from an investigation into an assault reported to have occurred in 2009. Records indicate the case was filed in September 2016 following a 2014 investigation by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and a forensic interview conducted in May 2015 by the Child Advocacy Center in Springfield. The victim reported she was sexually assaulted by Biggers at a residence in Ozark, according to court records.
