The West Plains R-VII School District has announced that Mrs. Virginia Uphaus, Principal of West Plains Elementary School, has accepted the position of Director of Operations for the 2026–2027 school year. District officials say the Director of Operations role is a newly titled position, replacing the former Director of Human Resources and Student Services. Uphaus brings nearly 20 years of experience within the West Plains R-VII School District. She has served as principal of West Plains Elementary School since 2024 and previously held the position of assistant principal from 2021 to 2024. Prior to moving into administration, Uphaus spent 12 years as a classroom teacher at the elementary school and began her career in the district as a substitute teacher in 2007. According to the district, Uphaus holds a Master of Education in Administration from William Woods University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Missouri State University. The Director of Operations oversees essential services that support students, staff, and daily operations across the district. Responsibilities include human resources, student services, facilities, and other key administrative functions that help keep district schools operating smoothly.
