The Arkansas Department of Health reports the number of Whooping Cough cases in Arkansas is up this year. The ADH reports that more than 500 infections have been reported statewide. That is the largest number since the ADH began tracking the disease. Most of the cases this year have occurred among school-aged children and teenagers. At least 50 people were hospitalized. More than 60 percent of those hospitalized were infants younger than 1 year old. One death related to the disease was reported in 2025.
