A fleeing vehicle incident late on December 27 sparked a multi-agency search in Douglas County, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Ava Police Department. Officers reported attempting to stop a red Ford Mustang after it rolled through a stop sign at Fleetwood and Washington and spun its tires on Johnson Avenue before accelerating westbound. When emergency lights were activated, the driver briefly stopped at the intersection of Johnson Avenue and Highway 5, then fled onto Y Highway. Police reported the Mustang reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour before the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns. Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search along Y Highway but were initially unable to locate the vehicle. Later, a resident reported a red Mustang with a black hood parked in a driveway near the end of Y Highway. Responding officers located the vehicle unoccupied but still warm. The Mustang was towed following an inventory search. During the investigation, a nearby resident reported seeing an individual run into the surrounding woods. Officers also contacted the vehicle’s registered owner, who stated he had loaned the Mustang to Shawn Austin Loyd Doisher earlier that evening. The owner told investigators Doisher later called him, admitted fleeing from law enforcement, and requested his truck be moved to the lower park. A written statement was later provided confirming Doisher had been driving the vehicle. Based on the investigation, officers requested charges against Doisher including careless driving, resisting arrest by fleeing, speeding more than 20 miles per hour over the posted limit, and tampering with a witness.
