The Oregon County Recycling is asking for the public’s help after several antique bottles containing potentially dangerous chemicals were sold at an auction Monday night. According to officials, the bottles may still contain  and possibly be leaking  hazardous substances, including mercury, cyanide, chloroform, arsenic, and strychnine. Recycling officials warn that none of these chemicals should be handled without proper protective equipment, as some can enter the bloodstream through skin contact alone. Chastity Wenger, manager of Oregon County Recycling in Thayer, is asking anyone who may have purchased the bottles, or who has information about their whereabouts, to contact the facility immediately so the chemicals can be safely disposed of. Anyone with information is asked to call 417-280-5343.
