Authorities say the fire started Monday morning, and at this time, the cause of the fire has not been determined. The State Fire Marshall is investigating. The names of the victims have not been released at this time. The sheriff released a statement on Facebook that is posted below.
The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the many agencies and individuals who responded to and assisted with a difficult residential structure fire in the Eminence area.
We sincerely thank the men and women of the Eminence Area Volunteer Fire Department for their rapid response, professionalism, and tireless efforts under extremely challenging circumstances. Their dedication and commitment are a testament to the heart of this community.
We also extend our appreciation to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office, the American Red Cross and Condolence Team, Mary Ficker with Emergency Management, the Shannon County Coroner’s Office, Mercy EMS, as well as my command staff and dispatchers for their coordination, compassion, and unwavering service throughout this tragic incident.
These calls are never easy. They take a toll not only on those directly affected but also on the first responders and support personnel who step forward without hesitation. Each agency worked seamlessly together, demonstrating the true meaning of teamwork and public service.
I apologize if I have inadvertently overlooked anyone who played a role in this response. Please know that every effort, large and small, was seen and appreciated.
As a community, times like this remind us of the importance of coming together — lending a helping hand, offering words of encouragement, or keeping those impacted in our thoughts and prayers.
The strength of Shannon County has always been found in its people, and it is during moments of loss that strength shines the brightest.
