A man from Ava was arrested on Friday on a Douglas County Warrant for Unlawful possession of a Firearm.

39 year old Sean Mason was arrested in early January for Domestic Assault 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Tampering with a victim in a Felony Prosecution. Bond was set at $2500 cash only. A search warrant was obtained for Mason’s residence, where numerous pills and approximately 60 grams of methamphetamine were seized. A second warrant was issued for Mason for Trafficking Drugs, a Class2nd Degree Felony, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class E Felony. Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.  Mason was released on his own recognizance on January 29, 2026, without having to post any bond. On January 30, 2026, the day after his release on his own recognizance, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a call of Mason shooting a firearm in his yard. Mason is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms by Missouri Law. Another search warrant was served for Mason’s residence, where police seized a firearm. Mason was arrested, and yet another warrant was obtained for Unlawful possession of a Firearm. Bond was set at $2500 cash only, with bond conditions to not possess firearms or ammunition, house arrest unless verified employment, and curfew from 7 pm to 7 am.
