He allegedly called the number and was transferred to someone who identified themself as an investigator with the DEA. This person told the victim that a federal warrant was issued for his arrest, and they instructed him to gather $40,000 to prove his innocence. Someone then came to the victim’s residence, and the victim gave them the cash.
