49-year-old Darla Jo Hulen is charged with felony theft of property. The Arkansas State Police say that Hulen resigned as Clerk in March of 2025, and her successor noticed she had not been sending out letters for non-payments, so she started sending out delinquency notices. Soon, individuals started showing up with receipts showing they had already paid their fines in cash. The new court clerk discovered the cash payments had not been logged into the Virtual Justice System. Hulen allegedly admitted to stealing the cash fine payments. An Arkansas Legislative Audit found the total amount of the cash shortage totaled $2,210. Hulen was arrested and then released after posting $10,000 bond.
