A woman from Lakeview has been arrested on manslaughter charges. 51-year-old Jennifer Kornegay was arrested after she allegedly gave her husband fentanyl for pain relief. The medical examiner’s report showed the cause of her husband’s death was from Fentanyl, oxycodone, and methamphetamine in the victim’s body. Kornegay then allegedly left the state and went to Texas with another man. The reports say she left behind four dogs without adequate care, and one died before they were rescued.
Kornegay is facing felony charges of manslaughter, a Class Y count of introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another person, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, and four misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals. She was booked and released Tuesday from the Baxter County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
