The Alton Multipurpose Senior Center has received a big donation from the Alton Bank. The Bank donated $65,000 to the center to help with the expansion of the Center. The donation was made in memory of Donald Combs, the father of Alton Bank President Randall Combs, and Alice Combs, Randall’s Mother. The current Center is between the post office and a residential area and has become too small to accommodate its programs, and the dining room can only hold about 70 patrons at a time.
The Willow Springs School District received a generous donation from the Paul family to go towards the Willow Springs High School Career and Technical Education Programs.
Roland “Pig” and Donna Paul moved to Willow Springs from Iowa in the 1960s and established a Pork Plantation which operated for roughly 30 years. The couple were big proponents of agriculture in many aspects.
The family felt Pig and Donna would be happy with this donation to promote students in the many opportunities that Career Tech Education offers. The generous donation will benefit all of our CTE programs.
