
North Central Arkansas and South Central Missouri are bracing for very cold windy conditions over the next few days, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for North Central Arkansas from Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon and a wind chill advisory is in effect from 6 pm this evening through noon Tuesday. With a chance of Winter precipitation in the forecast, Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed an executive order as a precautionary measure to prepare for winter weather, especially extreme cold temperatures expected to impact the State of Missouri starting this weekend. The Order waives certain hours of service requirements for commercial vehicles transporting residential heating fuel and activates the Missouri National Guard for state and local response efforts if needed.
In Arkansas, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared a state of emergency due to upcoming winter weather and storms. The declaration stated that $250,000 of the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund is to be “used at the discretion of the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to defray both program and administrative costs.”
