During the overnight hours of January 25, 2024, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the FBI regarding a threatening message toward the Ava Schools posted on a social media platform by a student. The message was reported to the FBI from the social media platform which was provided to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office along with the identifiers of the person that posted it.
The subject who posted the message was located and interviewed.
It was determined at the conclusion of the investigation that although a threat was made it was determined that there was no planning or intent by the student to carry out the threat and the message was only posted in a moment of anger and emotions.
Juvenile authorities were notified.
