Allegations of sexual misconduct by a former Baxter County jail employee have been settled.
In December 2021, Tabitha King alleged that a male co-worker in the Baxter County jail had sexually assaulted her and she also alleged that because she pursued charges, her employment was ultimately terminated. From April 2018 to December 2021, King was employed at the Baxter County jail.
The summary judgment by Federal Magistrate Judge Mark Ford on February 12th dismissed claims against Sheriff John Montgomery after those claims were waived by King. Judge Ford’s ruling left only former jail employee Steven Goode as the only defendant.
King originally took her complaints to the Little Rock Area Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The EEOC closed the case on several grounds including that there was sufficient evidence to indicate a casual relationship between the alleged incident in 2019 involving Goode, followed by an evaluation, and her eventual termination.
A ruling by Judge Ford ordered that both the plaintiff and the defendant need to prepare a motion to dismiss.
