After several months of investigations, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, SW Missouri Cybercrimes Task Force, and Homeland Security- Springfield served a search warrant east of Ava on 14 Highway for Possession of Child Pornography.
32-year-old Terry W. Butler of Ava was arrested after a search of the residence by an Officer resulted in numerous electronic and data storage devices being seized to be digitally forensically examined, as well as several firearms. Butler has a felony conviction out of the State of Alaska for Indecent viewing of the photo without the consent of Minor. This offense in Alaska does not require sex offender registration or tracking of any kind. However, upon moving to Missouri the offense is a required offense to register and Butler failed to do so.
Bulter was placed on a 24-hour hold where a warrant was later issued for him on 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Failed to Register as a Sex Offender with NO BOND being set.
