Longtime Howell County Commissioner and resident, Mark B. Collins has announced his candidacy for Missouri State Representative for the 154th District. This District includes all of Howell County, except for a small area north of the city limits of Mountain View and south of the Texas County line. The 154th District seat is currently held by Representative David Evans, who recently announced his retirement at the end of this term and will not seek reelection.
Mark B. Collins is a lifelong resident and third-generation farmer of Howell County. He and his wife, Ruby have been married and operated their 240-acre family farm in southern Howell County for over 40 years. Mark and Ruby have four children and five grandchildren. Since 2014, Mark and Ruby have also successfully opened, operated, and managed their small business, Rubydoo’s Vintage Events.
Collins has served on numerous state, regional, and local boards. He spent several years in different positions on the State of Missouri County Commissioners Association Board but in the most recent capacity as President. He served 18 years as a board member of the Howell Valley R-1 School District, 14 years as the Howell County Southern District Commissioner, and 12 years as the Howell County Presiding Commissioner. Collins has also served on the University of Missouri Extension Board, the Work Force Development Board, the South-Central Solid Waste Board, the South-Central Ozark Council of Governments (SCOCOG), the Transportation Advisory Board, and the Howell County 911 Board. He feels these state, regional, and local boards have allowed him to gain the knowledge needed to be your next 154th District State Representative.
Collins wants his constituents to know he is a fiscal conservative as well as, Pro-Life, Pro-Second Amendment, Pro-Family, Pro-Education, and Pro-Veteran’s Rights. He stands with past and present 154th District Representatives on continuing to be tough on crime, supportive of Law Enforcement and Emergency Services, and strongly believing and supporting Public Education. Collins says, that with his knowledge of agriculture, transportation, and local government, he is the perfect fit to continue serving the people of Howell County. If elected, Collins plans to maintain the voice of reason and enable the stability needed for the future of all of Howell County.
