It was the Red Sox vs. the Redbirds yesterday as Boston came to St. Louis to get sumarily slaughtered by the Cardinals yesterday. Lars Nootbaar and Masyn Winn each hit two-run homers to power the St. Louis Cardinals past the visiting Boston Red Sox 10-6 on Friday.
Alec Burleson hit a solo homer — his fifth of the year — and an RBI single for the Cardinals, who won for the fourth time in five games. Brendan Donovan hit two doubles and scored twice for St. Louis and Nolan Gorman hit his sixth homer of the season.

Cardinals starting pitcher Kyle Gibson (3-2) allowed five runs on eight hits in six-plus innings. He struck out three and walked three.

St. Louis made it 9-5 in the bottom of the inning. Nootbaar walked. One out later, Burleson and Herrera each hit RBI singles.

The Cardinals made it 10-5 in the eighth on Nolan Arenado’s RBI single. The Red Sox got one run back in the ninth on Devers’ run-scoring ground out.
