
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas right-handed pitchers Jake Faherty and Brady Tygart were selected during the final day of the 2024 MLB Draft, the seventh and eighth Razorbacks to hear their names called during this year’s 20-round draft.
Faherty, selected by the Miami Marlins in the 11th round with the No. 334 overall pick, made 16 relief appearances during his junior campaign, finishing 0-1 with a 1.84 ERA and one save over 14.2 innings of work.
Tygart, selected by the Red Sox in the 12th round with the No. 357 overall pick, made 14 appearances with 13 starts on the mound this past year, going 4-3 with a 3.94 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 59.1 innings of work as a junior.
Eight Razorbacks were selected in this year’s MLB Draft.
DALLAS — The 2024 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft concluded Tuesday with three University of Missouri baseball pitchers selected in the final 10 rounds. Senior left-hander Ryan Magdic was taken by Oakland in the 14th round (406th overall), before senior right-hander Carter Rustad went to Baltimore in the 15th round (459th overall) and junior right-hander Bryce Mayer was selected by Houston in the 17th round (493rd overall).
FORT WORTH, Texas – Missouri State right-hander Brant Thompson was chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 17th round (501st overall) of the 2024 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday.
In 2024, the senior from Eden Prairie, Minn., started 16 games and went 5-2 with a 3.78 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 78.2 innings. He led the MVC with a 1.16 WHIP, ranked second in ERA and third in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.41) and opponent average (.234).
