On Sunday a 73-year-old victim told authorities that a man came in her house at 6 am and would not leave, demanding to use her cell phone. The victim stated the male forced her to drive him to his work across town where she dropped him off and left immediately. The female victim was in such a shaken state of mind, That the Officer contacted an ambulance for her and she was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Officers were able to obtain information on where the male subject lived in Ava. The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Steven Odell Basham of Ava. He was taken into custody without incident and placed on a 24-hour hold.
Police obtained a warrant for Basham’s Burglary 1st degree and Kidnapping both are Class B felonies. The bond was set at $15,000 cash only.
