The City had requested $1.5 million in state funding for wildlife maintenance specifically a perimeter fence. The city says there have been numerous incidents with wildlife like deer on the runway. They say that about 130 planes were landing and taking off in July, and in the last few years there have been 5 or 6 incidents where planes have hit deer. There have not been any reports of injury but there has been a lot of damage done to the planes. The City said one plane had around $800,000 in damage. The Governor vetoed the funding request, saying in his veto letter that the general assembly grossly overappropriated Budget Stabilization Funds.
