
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 6:53 AM, Officers were called to a possible sighting of the missing child in the 3700 block of North US 63. Officers were advised by an area business owner that he had contacted an individual, later identified as Joseph Raider, and the missing child and had them enter his business. The owner of the property locked the suspect and child inside the business and contacted the Police Department. Upon the officer’s arrival, they placed Joseph Raider under arrest and took custody of the child. The child was checked by EMS and was then released to the custody of her mother. Charges are being sought on Joseph Raider through the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for Parental Kidnapping and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The West Plains Police Department would like to thank the members of the West Plains Fire Department, Howell County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and all the community members who responded to the incident and assisted in the search throughout the night for the missing child.

July 23, 2024, at 8:56 P.M. the West Plains Police Department received a call for an in-progress parental kidnapping located in the 1700 block of Gibson, West Plains, MO 65775. The reporting party said a male took her child and was intoxicated. She said the male was running East toward Brook Haven Healthcare.
Officers later learned that the male was, 30-year-old, Joseph Rader and the child was, 2-year-old, Paxton Rader. She said Joseph at first tried to leave in a vehicle before fleeing on foot with the child.
We are asking for community assistance in locating Paxton and Joseph. It is believed that Joseph may be a danger to himself and/or Paxton.
Paxton was last seen wearing a pink and tan shirt and shorts with Snoopy on it. She is a white female and has short blonde curly hair which is shoulder length in the back. She has brown eyes and is approximately 33 inches tall and 25 pounds. She was not wearing any shoes at the time.
Joseph was last seen wearing a green ball cap, black shirt, and blue jeans. He is a white male from the Birch Tree area. Is has brown hair and brown eyes. He is about 5 foot and 10 inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds.
