A Marion County, Arkansas man is charged in the death of his sister.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Zerahiah Harris is charged with manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a minor following an incident in October 29, 2023, around 10:30 that night on Marion County Road 124. That’s when investigators say that Harris broke down to them, confessing that that he was drunk when he fatally shot his sister, that he claims was an accident.
Harris claimed that he and his sister, 27-year-old Haisley Mack were playing around and scaring each other that night. He says that he heard Haisley walking down the hall and thought that he would scare her one more time- that’s when Harris picked up a gun from a snake tank. As Harris told investigators, Haisley came around the corner when he pointed the gun, which turned out to be loaded, pulling the trigger.
Harris’ girlfriend was also there, she was playing with Haisley’s 3-year-old child who was within ten feet of the shooting.
Harris was released within the hour on a bond of $25,000.
