Royals win and Cardinals lose on Tuesday

ST.LOUIS— Jake Cronenworth hit a tiebreaking RBI single in San Diego’s two-run seventh inning, and the Padres beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-5 on Tuesday night for their third consecutive win.

Paul Goldschmidt homered for St. Louis in its third loss in four games. Miles Mikolas permitted four runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Andre Pallante starts for St. Louis today against the Padres.

 

 

CLEVELAND — — After four months and a lengthy rain delay, there’s a second team sitting atop the AL Central. The Royals have run down the Guardians. Paul DeJong hit a two-run homer and Kansas City moved into a tie for first with Cleveland by beating the Guardians 6-1 on Tuesday night in a game delayed more than two hours by rain.

The Royals play the Guardians again today, Michael Wacha gets the start.
