Last Thursday, deputies were called to a residence on County Road 8800 near West Plains. When they arrived they found Dayton Terrill Austin on the property sitting in his car, behind the house. When he was confronted by the property owner he allegedly began throwing items from his car into the brush. A search of the area around the vehicle was conducted and several articles of drug paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, and other narcotics were located. Austin was placed under arrest and transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center. He is being held on charges of possession of a controlled substance and trespassing in the 2nd degree.
