
On Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:38 PM, the West Plains Police Department and the West Plains Fire Department responded to US Highway 160 and Ramseur Road, referencing a two-vehicle crash. On arrival, Public Safety personnel located a 2008 Ford Escape in the ditch off the roadway which sustained substantial damage being impacted on the driver side of the vehicle. The seventy-six-year-old male driver and the sixty-eight-year-old female passenger were both pronounced deceased at the scene. A 2015 Dodge Durango was on US Highway 160 where it came to rest in the middle turning lane that sustained substantial damage to the front of the vehicle. The seventeen-year-old male driver and the seventeen-year-old female passenger were transported to area hospitals to be checked. The investigation of the accident indicates that the Dodge Durango was traveling southbound on US 160 and the Ford Escape was traveling eastbound from County Road 6070 towards Ramseur Road at the time of the crash. The crash is still under investigation by the Reconstruction Team of the West Plains Police Department. The two vehicles were towed from the scene. The roadways were re-opened to all traffic at 1:32 AM. The West Plains Police Department no longer identifies fatality victims in Crashes.
