A Viola man faces drug charges after his arrest at a sobriety checkpoint.

35-year-old Eric Rodgers told police he was Tommy Rodgers when was stopped last Saturday and when he was asked for his driver’s license he told police he didn’t have it with him and gave them a false name. When officers checked the name came back as having a suspended license and two misdemeanor warrants. Rodgers was arrested and a pistol was found in his vehicle. During his booking, officers found a bag with a white crystalline substance. Rodgers has been charged with felony simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms,; felony possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver; felony possession of firearm by certain persons; felony furnishing prohibited articles; and misdemeanor criminal impersonation, driving on suspended, canceled or revoked license and with an enhancement penalty as a habitual offender. Bond for Rodgers was set at $50,000.
