
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two people last week after a narcotics search warrant was executed near the Ava School. Officers seized 9 grams of meth and drug paraphernalia. 63-year-old Roy Johnson of Ava and 48-year-old Michelle Engelhart of Ava were both arrested, and a warrant has been issued for possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $15,000 each.

Saturday, two people were arrested due to a search warrant served back in March. 31-year-old Jordan Downs of Ava and 40-year-old Mandy Logan of Ava were both arrested. Back on March 7th, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Ava PD executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the Goodhope area. During the search they seized 11 grams of meth and numerous items of drug paraphernalia along with several firearms. On May 5, 2025, a Douglas County Grand Jury indicted both Downs and Logan for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful use of a weapon by possessing felony narcotics, and keeping or maintaining a public nuisance. Bond was set at $1500 cash. Logan has since posted bond while Downs remains incarcerated in the Douglas County Jail.
