Cardinals Lose and Royals Win

CHICAGO (AP) — Michael Busch hit three home runs, Pete Crow-Armstrong connected twice and the Chicago Cubs went deep a franchise-record eight times while beating the St. Louis Cardinals 11-3 on Friday for their fourth straight victory. Brendan Donovan led off the fourth with a home run against Colin Rea, ending a 31-inning scoreless streak for the Cardinals. St. Louis, which dropped its fourth straight, was shut out in its three previous losses. Miles Mikolas (4-6) was tagged for eight runs and 10 hits over six innings in losing his fourth in a row. Matthew Libertore (6-6, 3.70 ERA) pitches Saturday for the Cardinals. The Cubs hadn’t announced a scheduled starter to replace injured Jameson Taillon.

 

Royals- Vinnie Pasquantino delivered a monstrous performance, 3 for 5 with two home runs and a career high six RBIs, including a three-run blast in the first and a two-run shot in the fourth, as the Royals beat the Diamondbacks 9-3 last night. Kris Bubic earned the win, tossing 7 innings and striking out six while allowing just 3 runs on 7 hits. The Royals will face the Diamondbacks Sunday in Arizona as righty Michael Lorenzen gets the start.
