Cardinals add 4 players on first day of Draft

ST. LOUIS, Mo.- The St. Louis Cardinals selected four players, including the No. 5 pick, on the first day of the 2025 MLB Draft.

The Cards picked up two college pitchers, a high school outfielder, and a college first baseman.

With the fifth overall pick in Round 1, St. Louis chose lefty pitcher Liam Doyle from the University of Tennessee.

With the 55th overall pick in Round 2, the Cardinals selected 2024-25 Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year, outfielder Ryan Mitchell.

With the 72nd overall pick, St. Louis signed its second University of Tennessee player, right-handed pitcher Tanner Franklin.

For the 89th overall pick and final section of day one of the draft, St. Louis chose first baseman Jack Gurevitch out of the University of San Diego.
