The City of Hardy and local volunteers gathered on Wednesday for a cleanup day at Loberg Park. The effort comes months after high floodwaters swept through the Spring River, leaving debris scattered across the park. Volunteers collected trash, damaged fencing, and other debris as part of the restoration project. City officials noted the cleanup was long overdue, with the park hosting numerous community events and activities throughout the year. Hardy Mayor Ethan Barnes said the cleanup is just the beginning of work needed to restore the park. He added that the city is applying for a grant that could provide up to $100,000 in funding to assist with repairs. Barnes explained that delays in FEMA assistance were a factor in the lengthy wait for the cleanup effort to begin.
