Cards and Royals both win on Friday

The Cardinals beat the Brewers 7-1 last night in St. Louis. The turning point came in the 5th inning, when St. Louis piled on with a big bases-clearing double and several hits off Brewers’ relievers. The Brewers had 12 hits but couldn’t get the big hits with runners in scoring position. Tonight they host Milwaukee again at Busch Stadium, with Miles Mikolas (RHP) expected to start for St. Louis.

The Kansas City Royals dominated the Toronto Blue Jays Friday night at Kauffman Stadium, crushing them 20-1 and setting a franchise record with 27 hits. Michael Lorenzen pitched 7 and two-thirds innings, allowing just one run on three hits. Salvador Perez and Jac Caglianone each hit three-run homers to lead the offensive surge. The series continues tonight at Kauffman, with Noah Cameron getting the start for Kansas City.
